About UKCalc

Free UK financial calculators — built for accuracy, updated every tax year, explained in plain English.

What Is UKCalc?

UKCalc is a free UK financial calculator platform. We build tools that help everyday UK residents understand their tax, salary, mortgage costs, stamp duty and more — without needing an accountant, a spreadsheet, or a financial adviser.

Every calculator on this site is updated at the start of each UK tax year to reflect the latest rates, thresholds and rules published by HMRC. All tools are completely free to use with no account required, no subscription, and no paywalls.

Always current

Updated at the start of every tax year. We track HMRC announcements and update within days of any change.

Explained, not just calculated

Every result includes a breakdown explaining the figures — not just a number dropped on a page.

UK-specific

Built for England, Wales and Northern Ireland tax rates. Scottish rates are noted where they differ.

Our Mission

Most financial calculators online are either outdated, overly complex, or buried inside websites trying to sell you a product. We set out to fix that.

Our goal is simple: give UK residents a reliable, fast, honest estimate for questions like "how much will I actually take home?" — and then help them understand why that number is what it is.

Understanding your tax is not just for accountants. When you know how the UK tax system works — where the thresholds are, how National Insurance is calculated, what salary sacrifice actually saves you — you can make better decisions about your career, your pension, your mortgage and your finances.

All of our calculators are updated for the 2026/27 tax year using the latest rates published by HMRC. They are designed for planning and estimation — not to replace the advice of a qualified accountant or financial adviser.

What UKCalc Covers

UKCalc currently provides tools and guides across four categories:

Editorial Team & Review Process

Reviewed by the UKCalc Editorial Team

All calculators and guides on UKCalc are written and reviewed by our editorial team before publication. Our team has a working knowledge of UK personal finance, the tax system, HMRC guidance, and the Financial Conduct Authority's regulatory framework.

We are not accountants or regulated financial advisers. Our calculators provide estimates based on published HMRC rates and are intended to help you understand your approximate financial position — not to replace professional advice.

Our review process follows four steps:

1

Source verification

All rates and thresholds are cross-checked against official HMRC, GOV.UK and ONS publications before any calculator is built.

2

Calculation testing

Every calculator is tested against multiple worked examples and cross-checked against HMRC's own tools where available.

3

Annual update

At the start of each tax year (6 April), all calculators and guides are reviewed against the latest HMRC publications and updated within days.

4

Error correction

Errors reported by users are investigated within 24 hours. Confirmed errors are corrected and noted in our changelog.

Important: Calculator Results Are Estimates Only

UKCalc calculators produce estimates based on standard HMRC rates for the 2026/27 tax year. They are designed for planning, comparison and general understanding — not as a definitive statement of your personal tax position.

Your actual tax may differ if you have a non-standard tax code, multiple income sources, benefits in kind, or other individual circumstances. Always verify your tax position with HMRC directly, or consult a qualified accountant or financial adviser before making major financial decisions. See our full disclaimer.
